Gander Academy's First Ever Shave for the Brave
June 12, 2013
On May 30, 2013 Gander Academy held its first ever Shave for the Brave event! More than 1000 students, staff and parents attended the event, which was hosted by the Gander Community Centre. Local hairstylists, barbers and hairstyling students volunteered their time to shave or cut the hair of more than 130 individuals from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Four parents teamed up with their children to shave, and even some of the teachers went under the clippers!! The event raised more than $34,000 and was deemed the “largest school shave event in Canada”!

Violence Awareness Week Poster and Video Winners
June 12, 2013
Congratulations are extended to Morgan Piercey, a grade 5 student at John Watkins Academy in Hermitage, and to Dylan Ralph, Stephen Moss, Alex Price, Ryan Hodder, Natasha Mercer, Lacey Crewe and Kayla Hardman (with teacher support from Ms. Janna Orr) of Holy Cross School Complex in Eastport for their entries in the Violence Awareness Week Poster and Video Contest.
